This scene of two goddesses shows us a beautiful array of colors and textures through the artwork. On the left we can see Ma’at spreading her wings of protection. She’s the goddess of cosmic order, law, justice and truth. She has the power to regulate the seasons, the movement of the stars and the relation between men and gods. She’s represented with an ostrich feather and she holds up the code of Ethics for the people of Egypt. On her right is Hathor, depicted with a cow horned crown. She can be considered to be the divine mother of the reigning King and is associated with sexuality, love, joy and music. She’s giving the ankh (key of life) sign to Ma’at in return for her protection. The size of this papyrus painting is approximately 14" by 17 1/2".
