The Scarab beetle was considered to be the personification of the god Khepri. He was a sun god that was connected with resurrection. The insect itself pushes around a ball of dung with its babies inside. The Egyptians observed this natural phenomenon and associated the round ball of dung with the ball of the sun and so Khepri was born.

The Lotus Flower was connected with resurrection and rebirth. This is because at night it would close-up and go under the water but would be reborn by opening up again with the sun.
